How to Wrap a Present

How many times have you seen a beautifully wrapped gift and felt a pang of jealousy? From perfectly folded edges to the beautiful displays around the tag, there is so much prettiness that can be achieved with proper wrapping.

So how do you get the store bought look at home? You’re in luck! We’ve made an easy step-by-step tutorial to achieve gift wrapping greatness.

What you need:

  • Double-sided tape

  • Scissors

  • Wrapping Paper

  • Item to wrap

Instructions:

Measure and cut paper. Start by putting the item on the edge of the paper. Roll the item along the paper until all four sides have touched the paper. This is the length of paper you will need, so go ahead and cut it. Make sure the sides are also covered by lifting the edges of the paper. The paper should reach the top of the sides.

The perfect crease. Start by tapping a piece of the paper to the top of the gift. Continue to roll the package until you reach the end. Make sure you crease every edge of the paper. The creases give the gift a polished look.  

Seamless presentation. Take the last creased edge and fold it under so that it lines up with the top of the remaining edge. When you tape this side, you will have prevented an unnecessary seam and instead created a finished edge.

Finishing the edges. Push the sides of the paper in with your pointer fingers to start the fold. Crease the top and bottom edges so that the paper creates a point. Fold down the raw edges and use a piece of tape to attach one side to the gift. Secure the other flap with another piece of tape. Repeat on the other side.

Spruce it up. Now that your gift is wrapped take the time to spruce it up a bit. Place a nice gift tag; add some ribbon, some garnish, or other objects to give it that extra special touch.
